I am so sorry I have not posted in so long, But my life had took a turn and just got very complicated. Well On of my last post talked about my closet. Above you will see the completed closet. I do not own any dressers or chest of draws. Everything I own is either hung up, or folded. This was a major goal of mines and I am so happy I have reached it.

Later today I will post what my bedroom looks like, Then move on to the rest of the house. Sort of a mini tour for you all.

Stepping back

If you are a follower of my widow blog, then you already know I am all moved in the new apartment. When I moved in I took all the important things with me, I have found out that the place is too cluttered. It reminds me of one of my post titled It is not what you can see. I guess I did not think that the apartment is much smaller than the house, So there is a lot less space.

So I will be taking the steps to get rid of some more things in the apartment. Please keep in mind there are still things at the old house. (SMH). My thought is since I have not needed it, then I do not need it. Heck even if I did need it there is no place to put it. So really it all needs to go.

One thing I DO NOT need is my dresser. As a very grown adult one may disagree that I would need one but I found an option that is working for me.

 

 

Well there was suppose to be a picture, But it will not upload. So I got a “Neat freak organizer” There is a enough room for my socks, undies, and what light things I have. The rest of my clothing are hanging up.

Ah my dining room is now my office. NOT what I had in mind, But it is the only option for me. Well now I have a big desk with good light LOL!

 

Ok, I am in the process of cleaning and doing homework today

Moved

Well I am moved in…. I still have some things I have to bring over to the house, But for the most part this is home. The limited space, has caused me to rethink the things I own.

Some of the “rethink items” that went away were..

1- My desk… There is no space for it. So now my work space is my dining room table.

2- Wall deco. There is not enough wall space for everything. So I ended up keeping a few things I REALLY like and they work in this new space.

3- Coffee table is out, The living room furniture sucks up all the space, So now my ottoman is my table. The area is cozy.

The day of the move I decided I did not want my dresser. I am not bringing it, I do have another plan for my “Undies” “socks” and such. The rest of my clothes can be hung up.

This place is the FIRST baby step to reach my goals. I know I say the place is small. It is small. BUT I can be happy here.

Books

Ok! Yes I do have ebook, Lots of them… But I also have a Nook, and a tablet. And if you are asking if I own a kindle, Yes I do but it is broken…

My books have been the hardest part of this minimalist journey. The ones I did give away were a lot of “self help” “diet” and some others that belong to others that I ended up with. I did keep all of my textbooks and some classics.

Now I am wanting the new Harry Potter Books with the new covers… SMH!

Last night, I went through the box that has my books in it. I could not get rid of one.

I decided I need bookshelves, Not only for myself but for my daughter. I was going to make wall book shelves, But since I am renting and this is a rather large management company, Drilling larger holes in the wall MIGHT not be a good idea. So I am on a book self mission; 2nd hand of course. The deal I am making with myself is not allowing it to fill up. So far every single book I am using for school now, are in a ebook. So unless I buy the new Harry Potter books, I will not be buying any books.

In moving news

Tomorrow I sign my lease, But thanks to a very good friend, She arranged for a friend of hers to move me for HALF the price I would have paid the movers. Woo Hoo! Of course I am working around his schedule, So he will move me Saturday; So I will not sleep in my new place tomorrow.

BUT

Tomorrow I will move the televisions, computers to the new place. I will also re-clean the apartment, change the toilet seats and move a few boxes over.

Houston we have a problem

I am not happy….

My move date was changed to July 5th. The unit I was going to move into the current tenant has decided not to leave. She did not resign her lease either, so she is month to month.. So I have been assigned a new unit that I can move in July 5th.

So Changing EVERYTHING, electricity, movers, More cost for me But management says they will take off of my rent what I have to pay extra.

But This give me a chance to get some MORE stuff done.

I have a box that is full of things from my nightstand, I think I am going to set a goal to empty that box. Then I will not need a nightstand. Going to invest in a small file cabinet for papers and such.

My dresser, I have been really thinking about getting rid of it. I do not have a lot of clothes, So I am going to test to see how much I really can hang up and how much has to put away. Washing clothes now will see how this goes.

Minimalism For More Life

My house is off the market with sale pending., I do have two more showings tho, (Just in case). So I am planning on spending this week and doing one room at a time.

Well, I am having a hard time, So I am going to take this room by room

Monday-

My Daughter’s room, We have emptied her dresser, it is going in the trash So I am taking it out of her room. We are also going to purge one of those “I have to much crap so I am going to buy this to put it all in things” I am pretty sure she does not need whatever is in that thing.

Tuesday-

My sons room. This room as been storage so to speak. There is some stuff laying around in there, that I should get together.

Wednesday

My room  Lets say I have lost focus in here. For some reason there is paper in here and my desk is a mess.

Thursday

Prep for Friday. Friday I sign my lease on the new place, So I will spend Thursday getting some things together to take to the new place. Televisions, Laptops, telephones stuff like that. This will also include the garage. I have some things that needs to be purged through, sold or given away.

Friday

This is lease sign day, I will spend the day, at the new place cleaning and waiting for cable and others to get there and turn everything on.

The upside there will not be any television or internet here after Friday so I can focus on doing more work at the house.

I hope the last inspection of the house will be done in the house by next week. So I can make the big move by the first of the month.
